Travel – Atlanta to Paris

March 2, 2010

General observations and witty remarks…

*foreign children are cute.  screaming foreign children sitting right behind you on a 9 hour flight are no longer cute.

*TN snowed for my last day there!

*There was a crazy rock band on the plane that kept screaming for free bloody marys

*Middle middle seats are no good for sleeping – check in early!

*paris the second time –> kinda like making out with an old ex boyfriend – never as good as you remember

*sleep is good. 13 hour layovers are boring!

*knowing how to speak the language is helpful when you’re riding a train and they tell you to get off. My method? follow the crowd

*I chose to spend 7 euros on food instead of9.50 on the Louvre. So much for fine art!

*finding a landmark in a foreign city is great…. unless you go the wrong way after finding it!

*lack of sleep + lack of food + lack of direction = ?!?!?

*they took my nail file! damn french

*evidently i look either good enough or French enough for random boys on the street to start talking to me (in French ) about the weather.

* Just in case moving to the rainforest wasn’t enough, Paris decided to rain for my one day here too.

*My safari pants are awesome! and cold…

*There is a lot of really interesting graffiti in Paris

*They have a picture of a little mosquito sucking a giant drop of blood in the airport – just a little disconcerting…

*I love my sister and her amazing packing abilities! Hooray for clean, dry, warm socks!!

YEA! Glad you made it through Paris and onto Kakamega. BTW, French food vs. Fench art…food wins everytime! PS: the warm, dry socks…you can thank Mr. Wade for that…never go to band camp in East TN during the monsoon season without extra, lots of extra, clean, dry socks! 🙂 Couple pairs of extra tennis shoes doesn’t hurt either. Which reminds me of the band camp song (to the tune of the army song) “The shoes at the camp they say are mighty fine, most of them are soggy the rest are on side lines – oh I don’t want no more of band camp life…gee Mom, I wanna go, but they won’t let me go, gee Mom I wanna go HOOOME!”
    Have a great day!

Well, at least the disapointment with Paris had nothing to do with personalities. Weather can change and language can be learned … with patience. Perhaps nicer on the trip back. So good to be able to communicate with you, even if some time apart in the replies. So hglad to hear that you are enjoying the new experience thus far. We pray for you every day.
