This. Is. IT.

February 25, 2010

No idea when the next time I’ll be able to update is, so I figured I’d give a good last go effort before I leave for the airport in an hour. The parentals are driving me to Atlanta, from there to Paris overnight. I’ve got a day to spend in Paris – hopefully some time for the Louve and a pastry or three – then another night flight to Nairobi, Kenya. 10 hours in Nairobi (no idea what I’m going to do there…) and then my final flight to Kisumu. Finally, an hour and half car ride from the shores of Lake Victoria to what will be my home for the next three months – Kakamega, Kenya. I hope I get better at sleeping on planes or I’m going to be one very grumpy Erin when I finally get there.

A lot of people have asked me if I’m nervous. Truthfully – no. I guess part of it comes from the fact that I really haven’t let myself dwell on ‘what ifs’ or expectations. The truth is that I have no idea what to expect, so I can’t be incredibly nervous about it – at least consciously. My body can tell that something is going on – I feel stress in my shoulders, but so far… not too bad. Everything is packed, my application is in, I’ve done everything I can do and I’m READY to go!
